Effective date: Last updated:

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of StackSpeed, operated by StackSpeed (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Questions? Email hello@stackspeed.dev.

1. Service Description

StackSpeed is a web-based tool that helps WordPress developers and agencies evaluate and simulate the performance impact of WordPress plugins. The service includes:

  • A searchable plugin directory with curated performance benchmarks
  • A real-time virtual stack simulator for estimating combined plugin impact
  • Performance, security, and reliability scores for individual plugins
  • For paid subscribers: stack saving, comparison, sharing, and export features

StackSpeed provides research and planning data. It is not a substitute for testing on your own staging environment. All benchmark data, combination estimates, and scores are subject to the methodology and limitations described on our Methodology page.

2. Accounts and Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use StackSpeed. By registering, you confirm you meet this requirement.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must notify us immediately at hello@stackspeed.dev if you suspect unauthorised access to your account. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorised use of your credentials.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree to use StackSpeed only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

  • Use the service for any illegal purpose or in violation of applicable law
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service, its systems, or infrastructure
  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the service by automated means without prior written consent
  • Reproduce, redistribute, sell, or create derivative works from StackSpeed data, scores, or benchmark results without permission
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the service
  • Transmit malware, viruses, or any code designed to disrupt or damage the service or other users
  • Use the service to build a competing product that incorporates our proprietary benchmark data or scoring methodology
  • Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
  • Interfere with the integrity or performance of the service

We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations and take appropriate action, including suspending or terminating your account and reporting to law enforcement where appropriate.

4. Free and Paid Tiers

StackSpeed operates a freemium model. The features available under each tier are described on our pricing page, which may be updated from time to time.

Free tier: The plugin directory and real-time stack builder are available without charge. Free accounts cannot save stacks, export reports, or share stacks via URL.

Paid tier: Subscribers gain access to stack saving, comparison, export, sharing, server environment variables, email alerts, and MCP integration, among other features. Premium subscribers gain additional access to site deployment and MainWP extension features.

We reserve the right to modify, limit, or discontinue free tier access at any time, with reasonable notice where practicable.

5. Payment and Billing

Paid subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, as selected at checkout). All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method on the billing cycle you select.

Pricing: Prices are displayed in GBP (£) or USD ($) as shown at checkout. Prices are inclusive of applicable VAT/tax where required. We reserve the right to change subscription prices with at least 30 days' advance notice via email.

Billing cycles: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You may cancel at any time via your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

Refund policy: We offer a 7-day refund on new subscriptions if you are not satisfied. After 7 days from the start of a billing period, no refund is issued for that period. Pro-rata refunds for unused portions of a paid period are not provided except where required by law. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us within 30 days at hello@stackspeed.dev.

Failed payments: If a payment fails, we will attempt to notify you by email. If payment is not resolved within 14 days, your account may be downgraded to the free tier.

6. Intellectual Property

Our platform: StackSpeed, its design, source code, scoring algorithms, benchmark methodology, and all associated intellectual property are owned by StackSpeed. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or branding without prior written consent.

Your data: You retain ownership of any data you input into StackSpeed, including the stack configurations you create. By using the service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display your data solely to provide the service to you.

WordPress plugin data: Plugin names, descriptions, and metadata are the property of their respective plugin authors. StackSpeed's benchmark scores, performance analysis, and editorial content are our own work and are not endorsed by or affiliated with the individual plugin developers or Automattic.

Feedback: If you provide us with feedback or suggestions about the service, we may use this information freely without obligation to you.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • The service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times
  • Benchmark data, scores, or combination estimates are accurate, complete, or current
  • The service will meet your specific requirements or produce any particular result for your site
  • Any errors or defects will be corrected

StackSpeed is a research and planning tool. You are solely responsible for verifying any data on a staging environment before making production decisions.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, StackSpeed and its operator shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunities
  • Damages resulting from reliance on benchmark data, scores, or estimates provided by the service
  • Any damage caused by third-party service failures (Supabase, Stripe, Vercel, etc.)

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the service shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the total fees you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) £100 (one hundred pounds sterling).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us at hello@stackspeed.dev or via account settings (when available). Upon closure, your saved data will be retained for 30 days before deletion, unless you request immediate deletion.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the service at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, for security reasons, or where required by law. We will endeavour to provide reasonable notice before termination except where immediate action is necessary.

Upon termination, all licences granted to you under these Terms will cease immediately. Sections covering intellectual property, limitation of liability, warranty disclaimer, and governing law will survive termination.

11. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in-product notice. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the service shall first be subject to good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
